Update on the Girls – 2012 – #10 – Mardi Gras Fatigue & Baby Steps

Both girls are recovering from Mardi Gras at the beach. Yesterday they slept a lot and were both cranky at times.

E – has been asking about parades. Mom tried to explain to her that it will be another year until there are more Mardi Gras parades, but that there are other holidays in the interim. Dad was running on the treadmill when she woke up from her nap yesterday. She wanted to come in and see me, so Mom brought her in the room. Kids are so sweet.

C – actually took some unassisted steps yesterday! She just did it to get to her mother – and afterward she refused to do it again – but that’s a huge milestone. She is getting to the point where she will not eat baby food any longer. Her table manners suggest that she’s not quite ready for lunch with the Queen right now. C is 14 months – she is growing up.

The daughter of one of our neighbors just had a baby. We gave them some of the girls’ 6-month clothing. Both of the girls had worn those clothes and it was a little difficult to see them go. Still, it is better that another baby can wear them.

Last week, we ran into an old friend who told us that we are far too OCD to be worrying about where our kids will go to school throughout K-12. Of course, he’s correct. Somehow, I don’t think that Mom and Dad will stop worrying.

About mobilemojoman

I have been a Mobile resident for about a decade. Working as a college professor keeps me off the streets and pays the bills. I am married to a woman (the MojoWoman) who is a much better person than I am and we have two beautiful girls who keep us both jumping. My interests are varied - food & drink, sports, politics, exercise, books, travel, Mardi Gras, and all of life's rich pageant. In the future, I'd like to learn more about sailing, photography, Cajun/Creole cooking, making beer and wine, and writing.
