My, times have changed. Back in 2010 everyone hated BP after the Gulf Coast oil spill. Even in the pro-business Deep South to company was a villain. Just down the street from us in West Mobile, someone “busted out” the large, plastic BP sign @ our local station.
BP officials scrambled to limit the damage and agreed to a large settlement. Now, three years later, BP is unhappy with the agreement. They are in federal court in New Orleans trying to get the courts to limit the amount damage awards. Ted Olson, former U.S. Solicitor General, represented BP in court.
I can’t believe that BP is trying to weasel out of the agreement that it chose to sign after polluting the Gulf of Mexico. They certainly don’t lack for chutzpah. The Mobile Press-Register’s George Talbot offers his opinion at this link –
